Ingredients
  

Tortillas
  • 8 pieces corn tortillas can be store-bought or homemade
Toppings
  • 1 cup refried beans canned or homemade
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar or queso fresco
  • 1/2 cup sour cream for drizzling
  • 1/4 cup sliced jalapeños optional
Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Prepare the Tortillas
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the corn tortillas on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until crispy.
Prepare the Toppings
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine refried beans, cumin, chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Prepare the other toppings: shred lettuce, dice tomatoes, and shred cheese.
Assemble the Tostadas
  1. Spread a layer of the seasoned refried beans on each crispy tortilla.
  2. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and shredded cheese.
  3. Drizzle with sour cream and add sliced jalapeños if desired.
Serve
  1. Serve immediately while the tortillas are still crispy.
