Carne Asada

A flavorful grilled beef dish, marinated with citrus and spices, perfect for tacos or as a main course.

Ingredients
  

Marinade
  • 2 lbs flank steak or skirt steak
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup lime juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice freshly squeezed
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
For Serving
  • 1 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 cup sliced radishes
  • 1 lime cut into wedges

Method
 

Marinate the Steak
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, lime juice, orange juice, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, black pepper, and oregano. Mix well.
  2. Place the flank steak in a resealable bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, preferably 2 hours.
Grill the Steak
  1. Preheat the grill to high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade.
  2. Grill the steak for about 5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached.
  3. Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing it against the grain.
Serve
  1. Serve the sliced carne asada in warmed corn tortillas, topped with chopped cilantro, diced onion, and sliced radishes. Squeeze lime juice over the top.

Notes

Carne asada can also be served with guacamole and salsa for added flavor.
