Onions
  • 4 medium yellow onions sliced
Butter
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Oil
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt
  • 1 teaspoon salt to taste
Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar optional, for sweetness

Method
 

Prepare the onions
  1. Slice the onions thinly and set aside.
Cook the onions
  1. In a skillet, heat the butter and olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions and salt, stirring to coat.
  3. Cook for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are golden brown and caramelized.
  4. If desired, add sugar during the last 5 minutes for extra sweetness.
